Essencia Organic Castor Oil is a single-ingredient vegetable oil made from the seeds of Ricinus communis. Each 100 ml bottle contains pure organic castor oil only, with no additives or preservatives, so it fits easily into a simple, ingredient-conscious routine for skin, hair, scalp and nails.

Our vegetable oils are extracted mechanically and pressed without chemical solvents. Castor oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, including omega-6 and omega-9, and contains oleic, linoleic and ricinoleic acid. Ricinoleic acid is a fatty acid that is relatively unique to castor oil and a key reason it appears in so many skin care products. The oil also contains vitamin E, minerals and proteins.

For hair and scalp, warm a few drops between your palms and work them through the lengths and onto the scalp, then style or rinse as usual. For skin, smooth a small amount over dry areas such as elbows, heels and knees, or massage it into nails and cuticles to keep them soft. Because castor oil is thick by nature, a little goes a long way, and the compact 100 ml bottle is easy to keep in a bathroom cabinet or toiletry bag.

In aromatherapy, vegetable oils are used as carrier oils to dilute essential oils for massage oils and homemade body and skin care. Add 5 to 10 drops of your chosen essential oil to 100 ml of castor oil to combine the properties of both on your skin. Its rich texture also makes it a useful base for DIY balms and body blends.
